Ourspace (517) is an initiative that works to center the voice of the community. As Ourspace (517) works to create spaces for all in the 517, Ourspace (517) is responsible for a handful of Lansing’s grassroots programs, initiatives, and events, including the 517 Juneteenth Festival in REO Town.

In 2021, Ourspace (517) hosted the first 517 Juneteenth Festival, attracting over 1,200 attendees from Lansing neighborhoods and beyond. With the goal of adding onto Lansing’s art and culture scene, things-to-do scene, and supporting existing initiatives, Ourspace (517) was born in 2022.

Ourspace (517) serves as a vehicle that drives community engagement and community development. This is done by curating free, high-quality, and culturally enriching events throughout Lansing’s corridors.
